This week’s cartoon is – you guessed it – Cubby Bear! Croon Crazy seems to be the most ‘pre-code’ of the series, with many outlandish gags.
The Harman / Ising Studio produced three ‘Cubby Bear’ cartoons for Van Beuren in 1933. Two of the three, ‘’Cubby World Flight’ and Gay Gaucho’ saw theatrical release, and this one – the third one – didn’t.
This week this space is devoted to an update and showing still frames on two projects in progress: Ub Iwerk’s Flip the Frog and Van Beuren Studio’s Cubby Bear.
Of course, the thing to do at the end of each year is to muse about what the year was, think about the what the events of the coming year…
I have always been an admirer of the work of John Foster (1887-1959), the pioneer animator who directed at Van Beuren and later at Terrytoons. His family saved some of his personal drawings and they have allowed us to share them in this special post.
