UNIVERSAL – WALTER LANTZ ORIGINAL TITLES
Welcome to my UNIVERSAL-WALTER LANTZ Original Titles page.
I will be adding more examples in the weeks and months to come.
The original Walter Lantz cartoons have been off U.S. television for years – and their only presence is on DVD: Universal Home Video’s THE WOODY WOODPECKER AND FRIENDS CLASSIC CARTOON COLLECTION. I urge you to buy these two volumes.
1930s MAIN TITLES: Oswald the Lucky Rabbit and miscellaneous Cartunes.
1940s MAIN TITLES: Lantz did not have consistent title cards. Which was great – because each picture was its own delightful event. On ocassion they would stick to a standard opening, but they changed formats often, and they were as varied as his cartoon managerie. Walter Lantz was sometimes billed as Walt Lantz.
1950s MAIN TITLES: Lantz got a little more standard in the fifties.
1960s MAIN TITLES: At this point, Lantz got really boring.
