My short but dramatic Terrytoons tenure has been well enough documented, but here I’d like to credit the names of those who helped (or hindered) that point in my cartoon career.
In 1956 I was given the opportunity to become the creative leader of the reborn CBS-Terrytoons studio! Unfortunately only a few of the cartoons I produced there lived up to my expectations.
I run this short in my animation history class every year; Jerry runs it in his class at Cal Arts as well. One of the most unusual of the Gene Deitch Terrytoons – a time period of unusual Terrytoons.
Since the school has been so exhausting here, I was thinking about what are good cartoons to relax by. Here’s tonight’s list.
There’s a lot of cartoons I really like, but when it comes right down to it, there’s often brilliant *moments* that are especially great. Here’s my list.

A little about Helen Carroll and the Satisfiers – a vocal group heard on some of the Terrytoons cartoons of the 1940’s and 1950’s.
Since it’s the 4th of July, it seems like it’s a good time to rerun a patriotic favorite… one of the NANCY cartoons, produced by Terrytoons in the early 40’s.
