This short was a collaboration between Hugh Harman Productions and Coronet’s in-house staff. Coronet distributed this film for many years in 16mm for the educational film market in beautiful Kodachrome.
When animator, director, producer Hugh Harman passed away November 25th, 1982, he was living pretty close to the poverty line. He could no longer afford to own a car and lived in a ramschackle rooming house.
The Harman / Ising Studio produced three ‘Cubby Bear’ cartoons for Van Beuren in 1933. Two of the three, ‘’Cubby World Flight’ and Gay Gaucho’ saw theatrical release, and this one – the third one – didn’t.
Tom Thumb in King Arthur’s Court is an interesting entry in the history of educational films. Hugh Harman started it and Gordon Sheehan completed it. Bizarre to say the least.
