Warner Club News (1959) – Part 2

JULY 1959

Maurice Noble returns to the studio (where did he go? — to John Sutherland?). Tedd Pierce had his motor stolen from his car – and Art Davis also returns after a hospital stay.

AUGUST 1959

Among the items this month: Elsa credits McKimson’s Cat’s Paw to Chuck Jones… Corny Cole gets married… and a jam session in the Music Room.

Pretty cool that Bob Gribbroek won that recipe contest… and even cooler, free subscriptions to the Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies comic book were offered to the employees (well, to their kids at least).

NEXT WEEK: 1960

  • Noble had wrapped up Rhapsody in Steel at Sutherland.

  • You’ll notice there is no mention of how many months those free subscriptions last (My guess is just long enough to get Junior “hooked”, and then Pops has to shell out for an extension).

I also wonder whether this offer was extended to the employees of the other studios where Dell had licensing contracts (Lantz, Hanna-Barbera, etc.).

  • Why is there no mention of Arthur Q. Bryan’s passing?
