In 1932, at the movies, the musical had returned to popular favor, and even the cartoons seemed to be improving.
The 1932-33 season was very good for RKO Pictures – and Van Beuren’s cartoon division.
RKO-Radio Pictures seemed to be satisfied with what Van Bueren put out – especially true with regard to their cartoons.
1931 was a busy year for Gene Rodemich, his orchestra, and the ever-increasing use of a male quartet.
The Van Beuren cartoons managed to chug along, despite issues over their use of Farmer Al Falfa and Mickey Mouse look-alikes.
There are a few situations where context is important to help understand the original intention.
While Wall Street was laying an egg, things were humming nicely at the Van Beuren Studio.
